Joan is dedicated to the research of holistic approach to enhance the quality of life. To that end, she wrote her first master thesis on "The Effects of Dance/Movement Therapy on Breast Cancer Survivors" under the supervision of Dr. Carol Reiss. Her second master thesis discussed the relationship between somatic studies and dance education, which she complemented with a curriculum designed to incorporate somatic studies to the higher education dance environment, both under the supervision Dr. Susan Koff.
